I have been releasing shutters since the 90's and launched my career as a professional photographer at my dream job at South Africa's largest media company, Naspers. I have spent time in both their Eastern Cape and Western Cape offices as a freelance press photographer. I also enjoyed some time as an assistant photographer at the photographic department of Media24 under the leadership of Bernard Jordaan.
Nowadays, I live by the grace of the Living God and share a beautiful image-making life with my beautiful family. 1 wife and 5 children.
I love good coffee, sipping wine and stirring pots around the stove with my wife, family sups around our dining room table, braai and kuier with friends and good 'old' music.
"I worked with Malan at Die Burger. It was only for a short period, but there were loads of deadline-looming, mission-impossible days during which you see a person’s true colours. Malan’s the kind of photographer you’ll want to work with. He has a great eye, he’ll get the picture and it’ll be on time. He also scores full marks for integrity, a tranquil temperament and a great professional attitude."— Karen Pienaar
